As you have hopefully heard from your child, we recently read the book, Wonder, by RJ Palacio. This is one of my absolute favorite novels. There are many, many lessons that we can all learn from the characters in the story.
Our kids were paired up with a 4th grader and given a precept, or rule-to-live-by, from the book. The pairs created a poster that shows the meaning of the saying and a visual representation. These are displayed in the hallways. Be sure to take a look when you stop in for conferences. They turned out wonderfully!
(We have started a new book this week. Be sure to talk to your child about Because of Mr. Terupt.)
