Getting into the swing of things

We've been very busy in fifth grade, establishing procedures and routines that will help to ensure a successful year.  We have also fully immersed ourselves in content.  I have been benchmarking students with every free second, which will help me to better know them as readers - but this resulted in no new pictures to add.  I am making it my goal for the next week to be a better photographer!

The students continue to become more comfortable with their Chromebooks and we're beginning to be able to use them to create some really cool projects.  On Friday, the kids were able to make their first blog post!  I'm excited to utilize these blogs as place where students can showcase their work and display their growth.

Also on Friday, we put together our Data Binders.  These will be used by the kids to keep track of their progress and give evidence to show that they have mastered standards.  The students were able to record where they currently are with 3 "I Can" statements related to our Prime/Composite standard.  This will be a great way for the kids to take ownership of their learning and develop a "growth-mindset."

I'm looking forward to a great week!
