Today, you will be watching a video on our atmosphere.  You will be filling in a sheet as you go along, so pay attention.  If you need to pause as you fill in the answers, that is OK, but you shouldn't feel rushed -- there aren't that many questions.

To hopefully cut down on any lag and buffering, I am giving you 2 locations to watch the video:

If your number is 1-12:  Go here.

If your number is 13-23:  Go here.

The top questions of your sheet can be filled out throughout the video, or at the end.  However, you will NOT be able to fill them out before watching the video.

After discussing the video, you may  have some free time.  If you would like, I'm posting some interesting articles that you may read from either DogoNews or Newsela.  Please only read the linked articles.

  • Jellyfish
  • Hawaiian lava
  • Mt. Rainier
  • Tornadoes
  • Hurricanes
  • Earthquakes

Today, you will be doing a little background research on our selected author, Jerry Spinelli.

Go to his homepage to help you answer these questions:  http://www.jerryspinelli.com

On a separate sheet of paper, work on answering these questions:

  1. How many books has Jerry written
  2. What image is featured on the "Jerry" page?
  3. Why do you think he chose to picture this?
  4. Go to the Faqs link and select two facts about Jerry to record below:
  5. Go to the Jerry’s books link.  What is the title of his autobiography?
  6. What did Jerry first want to be growing up?
  7. What are some of his hobbies?
  8. What was Jerry’s first published writing?
  9. Why does Jerry consider his children an inspiration for his writing?
  10.  Go to Jerry’s book link.  Write a summary of one of the books you have not yet read.  Does this sound like a book you would like to read?  Why or why not?
